Treating TMJ in Fort Collins
During your evaluation, Dr. Owens will examine your teeth, jaw joint, and jaw muscles to determine the best treatment plan for you. Most times, steps need to be taken to adjust your jaw positioning and bite.
An oral appliance is a removable device that helps to keep the teeth and jaw in proper position. Usually worn during sleep, an oral appliance may also prevent teeth grinding or clenching, which can lead to tooth wear and contribute to tooth decay and gum disease.
In addition to causing symptoms of TMD, misaligned teeth can also affect the appearance of your teeth by wearing them down. To correct tooth wear, Dr. Owens may recommend treatments such as veneers, crowns or invisible braces.
